Caracol Noticias | The ‘white elephants’ in the construction sector receiving public resources in Colombia

Camilo Enciso, Director of the Anti-Corruption Institute, during an interview with Noticias Caracol, outlined the consequences of the management of public resources in the construction sector. He stated that “bad planning, in good or bad faith, leads to the works becoming paralysed, and they have often been authorized without the  required environmental or maritime management licenses (when they are called for) or construction permits”.

In Colombia, infrastructure projects that are developed using public resources are known as ‘white elephants’ and are never completed, for a number of different reasons associated with corruption. See the full interview:
