The Court considers that the President is not an ordinary citizen and therefore has limitations in the freedom with which he can share his opinions regarding his potential successor.
The Administrative Court of Cundinamarca denied a popular lawsuit that sought to order President Iván Duque to remain silent and not comment on the proposals of presidential candidates, however they warned him that he must exercise restraint in his remarks, making it clear that nothing he says should represent an intervention in the politics of the country.
