El Espectador l Unregulated “Lobby”: a slippery slope

In an interview with national newspaper El Espectador, Camilo Enciso, Director of the Anti-Corruption Institute, discussed the proposed bill filed before Congress to regulate lobbying and expressed his concern over the possibility that the lobbyist registry would be managed by the Transparency Secretariat, suggesting instead that it be administered by the Attorney General’s Office, which is an independent organization of control.

Enciso went on to comment that another issue with this proposed bill to regulate lobbying which has been passed to Congress is that it does not tackle or seek to regulate the most problematic lobby of all: that of Members of Congress on the Government, mayors and governors.
