One of the lawsuits that was passed to the Council of State calling for the annulment of the election of the judges was presented by Iván Velásquez, former Assistant Magistrate and member of the Anti-Corruption Social Response Force (FUERSA) coalition, which is supported by academics and analysts such as Camilo Enciso, Director of the Anti-Corruption Institute.
The main point made within the lawsuit was that their “interpretation” of the regulation violated Decree 160 of 1978, which states that the election of high court officials must be made by 2/3 of its members, which on this occasion would be 16 votes.
