On 2 October, the Anti-Corruption Institute filed a right to petition against Senator Mario Castaño with regard to the work of his Legislative Work Unit (UTL) for the period 2014-2018 during which he was a House Representative. The Senator refused to respond and as a result the Institute was required to file a protection action for the violation of the fundamental right to petition to access information that is available to the public.

This week, the 55th Court of Small Causes and Multiple Jurisdiction of Bogotá ruled in favor of the Anti-Corruption’s petition for guardianship, ordering Senator Castaño to respond to the request within 48 hours of the notification of the ruling.
