Red+ Noticias | Water Bonds

May 12, 2019 | New

On 12 May  2019, Camilo Enciso, Director of the Anticorruption Institute, spoke to the Red + Noticias news channel about water bonds. This followed the decision by Colombia’s Comptroller General of the Republic to revisit the subject in light of discovering that works had not been carried out.

Talking about the case, Enciso said: “This clearly shows the need for the Attorney General’s Office to intervene quickly and identify those mayors and public officials from the National Government if it turns out that they are responsible for the loss of resources.”

The Director went on to assert that the results of the Comptroller General of the Republic of Colombia’s investigation demonstrate that in around 25% of the audited municipalities around the country, there is still no adequate infrastructure to allow for the provision of drinking water, something which ought to have been financed by the so-called water bonds.
